His paintings are a reflection of a man's mind, sometimes realistic, sometimes metaphoric or abstract. The background is always used as a vital component, inspired by the Chinese painting tradition. The human energy is very often present in his more realistic work, but also in his abstract work. It has a transcentdent feel of human energy travelling through time. |
Adriaenssens sculptures are about human energy as well as his paintings. Sometimes he represents this energy in a pure abstract way, on other occasions it is visible in the way he uses the material in his more figurative work.

Often in his work, Adriaenssens mixes the different media. There are paintings intirely made with the sewing machine (free embroidery) and sculptures made out of textile. His clothes are moulded on the mannequin (no patterns) , and in fact sculpted like a sculpture.
